Patience, the Anchor Chain
It is the nature of things that are sound, that they rarely happen overnight, they often require time. Thus, in that interspace between input and output, there is that waiting period which requires an attitude that is expectant, but not anxious, a certain confidence that having to wait for a desired outcome is not a denial of it. That secret ingredient for every successful venture worth pursuing is patience. Patience supplies what constitutes the difference between peace, and an unnecessary burden of unrest for a person who must necessarily wait for a desired or expected outcome.

Hope. Some consider it a mirage of what we desperately desire, nebulous in aspect, elusive in nature, but useful nonetheless to prevent the crash which inevitably comes from despair.

WOULD YOU SING?
How can we sing joyful songs when we are in the throes of peril; how can we sing encouraging songs when there is no hope and the horizon is bleak; how can we sing lively songs when there is nothing to live for; how can we sing praise songs to our God who appears to have abandoned us, closed His eyes to our pain, forsaken us in our plight, and shoved us off into enemy hands?

Today I encourage you to look up, and then look ahead, to find hope, if you are down in the doldrums, if your life appears to be on a downward slide, if you seem to be going nowhere, or if you have hit rock-bottom where, by reason of age or other circumstances, there does not appear to be anything to hope for.

It is easy to trust God when you can identify options you think God will use to answer your prayers. It is far more difficult when there does not appear to be any conceivable option on which to anchor your faith.
