Today I encourage you to look up, and then look ahead, to find hope, if you are down in the doldrums, if your life appears to be on a downward slide, if you seem to be going nowhere, or if you have hit rock-bottom where, by reason of age or other circumstances, there does not appear to be anything to hope for. 

It is the human experience that the nature of life lived ‘under heaven’ (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV) is that, with all the effort you may put into your life with the purpose of bringing you to an expected end, you may suddenly be confronted with challenging circumstances, seeming dead ends, or situations that appear to be contrary to what you consider to be your highest good.

The question of how to make decisions - what to do about a given situation - remains difficult among Christians who desire to live in the will of God, for discerning the will of God is not always easy. 

There appears to be a widely-held view that the continual asking for anything from God is evidence of a lack of trust. It is evident that the said view (or doctrine) is contradicted by Jesus’ own teaching on what should be our attitude to prayer.

Do you consider your identity as a child of God your defining identity that undergirds all you think and do, the way you relate to people, carry out your duties, earn a living, and respond to the issues of life? 

It is easy to trust God when you can identify options you think God will use to answer your prayers. It is far more difficult when there does not appear to be any conceivable option on which to anchor your faith. 

The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord. Proverbs 21:31 (KJV)…

Recently, I had a conversation with a friend who has lost his beloved wife. He is in mourning and justly so, for his wife was a godly woman who walked alongside him for more than three decades.
